Competition Terms
These terms govern applications to and participation in the first WeldArt World Championship (WAWC). They are intended to make the competition, prize and event-contingency rules clear before an entry is submitted.
1. Organiser and acceptance
The organiser is Mingle Makers UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Von-Siemens-Str. 20, 48691 Vreden, Germany, registered with Amtsgericht Coesfeld under HRB 21761 (the “Organiser”). Entry is free. By submitting an application, the entrant confirms that they have read and accepted these Competition Terms.
2. Entry and eligibility
Entrants must be at least 16 years old and may submit one active entry per account. The published technical, media, safety and eligibility rules form part of these terms. The Organiser may verify eligibility and reject or disqualify entries that are incomplete, unsafe, fraudulent, infringe third-party rights or otherwise breach the published rules.
3. Format, dates and invitations
Published dates, venues, rounds and travel information describe the planned competition format. Participation in a live round exists only after a written invitation from the Organiser. Entrants remain responsible for passports, visas or travel authorisations and must not make non-refundable travel arrangements unless the Organiser has approved them in writing.
4. Champion prize
One cash prize of US$10,000 is allocated to the overall WAWC Champion. It is not a payment to each entrant, voter, finalist or round winner. The prize becomes due only after the championship has been completed, an eligible champion has been finally determined and the Organiser has confirmed the result in writing. Any taxes or reporting duties that apply to the recipient remain the recipient's responsibility, subject to mandatory withholding rules.
5. Changes, postponement or cancellation
The Organiser may reasonably change the timetable, venue, format or number of rounds, postpone the championship or cancel it where an objectively justified serious reason makes the announced format impossible, unsafe or unreasonable. Such reasons may include an insufficient number of eligible entries to run the published competition format, loss of an essential venue or essential funding, safety or security risks, public-health events, official restrictions, material travel or visa barriers affecting a live round, failure of a critical partner, or other events beyond the Organiser's reasonable control.
Where reasonably possible, entrants will be informed promptly. If the championship is cancelled before an overall champion has been finally determined and confirmed in writing, no champion prize, travel or accommodation benefit becomes due. Entrants bear their own preparation, material and time costs and cannot claim reimbursement for unapproved travel, loss of opportunity, expected prize money or expected profit.
This section does not exclude or limit liability for intent or gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, claims that have already become due, rights under a separate written agreement, or any other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
6. Liability and participant safety
Entrants are responsible for safe working methods and compliance with applicable occupational-safety rules. The Organiser is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence, liability is limited to foreseeable damage resulting from a breach of an essential contractual obligation. Mandatory statutory liability remains unaffected.
7. Applicable law and mandatory rights
German law applies. This choice does not deprive consumers of mandatory protections provided by the law of their habitual residence. Statutory rules determine jurisdiction; no exclusive court is imposed on consumers where mandatory law provides otherwise.
